School-Based Trainer & Mentor Support
An integral part of the School Direct/SCITT programme is that which is provided for the school-based trainers. The SBTs and Mentors are key in providing valuable support to trainee teachers as they progress through their journey to become qualified teachers.
SBTs & Mentors access a network and support programme that includes an initial workshop in July focusing on their roles, and responsibilities. These workshops continue throughout the year at least once a term. The purpose of the sessions is to provide opportunities to discuss trainees, share good practice and provide input into the development of new ideas to improve the development and focus of the programme as a whole.
Training for School Based Trainers and Mentors takes place throughout the year, especially in September and July.
